Conventional Peltier coolers are small and rigid, so they can't comfortably cover a large, curved area of the body. This device solves that with inter-component flexibility: an array of individual thermoelectric modules — each a conductive plate, a Peltier element, and a liquid-cooled heat sink — joined by an elastic material into one continuous, bendable body.
Protective spacers around each module absorb mechanical stress so the fragile elements and their bonds survive real-world use, like being leaned against as a backrest. Fluid is cycled through the heat sinks by either a pump-and-reservoir loop or a passive thermosiphon, carrying heat away efficiently so the contact surface stays cold.
